Concrete, especially reinforced concrete, ie reinforced concrete is a very good and in many situations an irreplaceable construction material. The high load-bearing capacity, stiffness and durability of concrete made of concrete means that it is widely used in the construction of the majority of buildings.
Raw concrete in architecture
For some time, raw concrete has also been used in interior design. In this application, in which it does not only have a structural function, but also a decorative one, it is called architectural concrete. You can meet it primarily in modern office buildings and public utility, but also in residential premises with a higher standard. Among the latter, this applies particularly to lofts, or exclusive flats, arranged in former post-industrial facilities.
Smooth or textured surfaces of concrete walls and ceilings, whole or only fragments of them, can of course also be found in the interiors of single-family houses with modern architecture, which to a greater or lesser extent, give industrial character
It is worth noting here that the attractiveness and growing popularity of architectural concrete results not only from the fact that the surfaces of the elements made of it have an original, unique look. They are also much more durable and more resistant to damage, also due to scratches caused by building deformations, from gypsum or cement-lime plasters, which are traditionally finished with masonry walls and ceilings of reinforced concrete ceilings.
GFRC concrete in architecture – what materials… does it work best with?
When constructing architectural concrete elements, much depends also on the suppliers of the ready-mixed concrete mix. It must be properly designed and prepared to be plastic and filled with formwork. It is also important that the consecutive portions delivered for the building should not only have the same composition and texture, but also a repetitive color.
Very popular in architecture is, inter alia, GFRC concrete. More and more people are choosing to use such material, because it is thanks to him that we can change every building. GFRC is nothing more than fiberglass reinforced concrete.
